Fermanagh MLA hopeful parades will pass off without incident



A Fermanagh-South Tyrone MLA says she is hopeful that today’s July 12th parades will pass off without incident.

Police are treating as a hate crime the burning of an effigy of Sinn Féin’s Vice President Michelle O’Neill on a bonfire in Tyrone.

PSNI officers are liaising with community representatives after the picture, and Irish flags, appeared on a bonfire in Dungannon last night.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service says it attended 34 bonfire-related incidents yesterday evening.

Hundreds of bonfires were lit to mark the annual 12th of July loyalist celebrations.

A man’s been taken to hospital after falling from a bonfire in County Down.

It happened at around 10 o’clock last night in the Portaferry Road area of Newtownards.
