Man arrested in connection with discovery of body at Slieve League



A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a body at Slieve League.

 

The body was recovered from the water below the cliffs on July 4th.

 

The body of the man in his 60s was found following a multi-agency operation which lasted for about a week.

 

An investigation was also launched into an alleged assault in the Killybegs/Slieve League area which is believed to have happened at the end of last month.

 

Now, it’s understood that Gardai arrested a man in Letterkenny this morning in connection with the alleged incident.

 

The man, who is in his 30s, has been taken to Ballyshannon Garda Station for questioning.

 

It’s believed that the man arrested is one of two people who were previously arrested  in connection with the alleged incident but were subsequently released without charge.

 

The victim is thought to be Robert Wilkin, aged in his late 60s and originally from County Tyrone
