Over 50 waiting for a bed at north west hospitals



The total number of patients waiting for a bed at the north west’s two mains hospitals remains high.

There were a were a total 30 patients on trolleys at Sligo University Hospital according to figures published by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

Sligo University Hospital is the third most overcrowded facility in the country today.

The figure has increased significantly at Letterkenny University Hospital where 21 were waiting this morning.

University Hospital Limerick remains the country’s most overcrowded facility with 78 waiting for a bed there this morning.

Nationally, this morning’s figure stood at 379.
