HIQA has released inspection reports on seven acute hospitals.
The health service watchdog reported good levels of compliance at Roscommon University Hospital.
However, inspectors found mixed levels of non-compliance at the ED at University Hospital Galway.
Inspectors found that notwithstanding the efforts of staff in Galway, patients on trolleys outside of defined cubicle spaces had little to no privacy or dignity and it was clear that the confidentiality of patients accommodated on trolleys in the corridor was severely compromised.
The situation in the department significantly impacted on the meaningful promotion of the patient’s human rights, according to the report.
Neither Sligo nor Letterkenny University Hospitals were included in the latest round of inspection reports by the Health Watchdog.
