Local events get funding boost

A number of local events are set to get a funding boost.

30 events nationwide are to share €130,000 as part of the scheme which is designed to assist local cultural events which may not be eligible under funding criteria for larger scale events such as those supported by Fáilte Ireland, the Arts Council and similar bodies.

The Yeats Society in Sligo gets €5,000 for the 64th Yeats International Summer School as does the Mícheál Ó Cléririgh Summer School in Donegal.

Ballyshannon Folk and Traditional Music Festival has also been awarded €5,000 while the Ballisodare Community Council is to receive €3,750

Funding was allocated following a competitive applications process, with a maximum grant of €5,000 available.
