Enniscrone golfer David Shiel makes Home Internationals team

Enniscrone Golf Club’s David Shiel has earned selection on the Ireland team for next week’s Home Internationals in Wales.

Shiel, who was a quarter-finalist at last weekend’s South of Ireland Championship in Lahinch, qualifies for the team automatically as the current leader of the Bridgestone Order Amateur – amateur golf’s ranking system in this country.

His selection is fitting recognition for Shiel’s impressive form during 2023.

Shiel is joined by 2019 West of Ireland winner Caolan Rafferty (Dundalk) and the new South of Ireland champion Colm Campbell (Warrenpoint).

Another former West of Ireland champion, Hugh Foley (Royal Dublin), would also have made the team – but he will be playing in the United States next week.
