Walker rescued from Mount Errigal

A multi-agency operation saw a walker at Mount Errigal rescued on Saturday night.

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team along with An Garda Síochána were tasked to carry out the rescue.

The walker was on his own with no food and a head torch with low battery.

He had been on the mountain for 4-5 hours and could see Dunlewey from his location.

Communication was established with the person and details were taken.

Team members were met by members of An Garda Síochána at Errigal car park and set about the rescue operation.

After being located, the walker was transported to their vehicle after being deemed safe and well, uninjured and able to safely return home.

Those who are heading out on the hills this bank holiday weekend are being reminded to head out prepared.
