Road safety campaign continuing across North West today

A road safety campaign is continuing across the North West today.

Gardai are urging all road users to stay safe this Bank Holiday weekend.

The operation consists of high visibility rolling checkpoints and patrols across road corridors in Counties Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal led by Roads Policing and Frontline Units based at Carrick On Shannon, Sligo, Ballymote, Donegal Town, Letterkenny and Buncrana Garda Stations.

The operation focuses on the four key lifesaver offences of driving under the influence, speed, non-wearing of seat belts and mobile phone use.

Gardai say that the overall objective of the operation is to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury collisions.
