Survivor of stabbing by Sligo double murderer reveals he had ‘kill list’

The man who was stabbed in the eye by Yousef Palani in Sligo last year has claimed how the double murderer had a ‘kill list’ of around a dozen other men.

23-year-old Yousef Palani, of Markievicz Heights in Sligo, last week pleaded guilty to murdering Aidan Moffitt at Carton Heights on April 10 last year and Michael Snee at City View, Connaughton Road, in the town two days later on April 12, 2022.

He has also admitted causing serious harm to Anthony Burke the day before he killed his first victim.

Speaking to the Sunday World, Mr Burke, who suffered life-changing injuries as a result of the attack, described Palani as a homophobic “coward” who wanted to murder him after tying him up.

After the two had chatted on well-known dating app Grindr, Palani called to the victim’s home.

The killer showed Mr Burke the online profiles of around a dozen men he had been chatting to on Grindr.

Mr Burke didn’t know it at the time, but said he realised after hearing about the first murder that it was a ‘kill list’.

Palani later stabbed Mr. Burke in the eye after being ushered out of his home when Mr. Burke became uncomfortable in his presence.

Palani’s sentence hearing is due to take place on the 23rd of October.
