People are being urged to exercise caution over a potentially toxic algal bloom in Leitrim.
As a result, Leitrim County Council has issued a public notice not to swim in a lake or drink the water that contains algal blooms.
The notice also applies to animals.
At this time of year an algal bloom or scum may appear on, or close to the shoreline of a lake.
The Council is warning that this bloom could be toxic.
