A major multi-agency search and rescue operation saw a kayaker located in a cave near Owey Island on Sunday afternoon.
At around 3pm, the kayaker reported that he had encountered difficulty.
The Malin Head Coast Guard station tasked the Rescue 118 helicopter, Arranmore Lifeboat and Bunbeg Coast Guard to the rescue.
Several other vessels from the locality aided in the operation.
The kayaker was located in a cave just before 5pm and was said to be ‘safe.’
Rescue 118 touched down at Lettekennny University Hospital later in the evening.
