Improvements to Lough Melvin take a step closer

Issues surrounding Lough Melvin could be eradicated sooner rather than later following the publication of a comprehensive report.

The report highlights effective methods to safeguard the water quality there.

Paul Johnston Associates, a leading fisheries consultancy specialising in fisheries conservation and freshwater ecology has published the report.

It is the first report into Lough Melvin since the Northern Regional Fisheries Board’s in 2008.

Sewage and algae bloom have previously affected the lake.

Local Councillor and chairperson of the Kinlough Community Development Company, Justin Warnock says the community must work together to improve the water quality in the lake.
