Removal of whale from south Donegal beach underway

A major removal operation is underway in south Donegal of the remains of a whale which washed up there last week.

The large sperm whale was discovered by locals on the Big Beach in Glencolmcille on Saturday evening last.

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group had been carrying out an examination of the mammal in recent days.

It’s understood that while measurements, images and samples have been collected,  a cause of death could not be determined due to its poor condition.
