Taoiseach fails to give commitment to visit Dromahair



The Taoiseach has failed to give a commitment to visit Dromahair in the wake of a number of asylum seekers set to be housed in the former Abbey Manor Hotel.

 

It’s reported that a number of refugees are due to arrive to the area shortly, after the High Court this week ruled that the plans can proceed.

 

While the Abbey Manor Hotel could cater to up to 155 people, it’s not yet known how many are due to arrive initially.

 

Simon Harris was responding to questions from Sligo Leitrim Independent TD Marian Harkin, who says Dromahair could be used as a template on how asylum seekers are accommodated in rural areas.

 

Responding, the Taoiseach says that there will be engagement with the Dromahair community and the Department of Integration over the plans:
