Census figures show North West had the lowest percentage of homeless people



Data released from the most recent Census shows that the North West had the lowest amount of homeless people when the survey was carried out.

A total of 102 people across the region were registered as homeless on April 3rd, 2022, according to the CSO.

The North West’s total accounted for just 1% of the national figure.

In total, 10,321 people were registered homeless that evening.

The Midlands followed the North West in terms of the lowest homeless numbers, with 138, followed by the North East, with 189.

Of the nine regions surveyed, more than two-thirds (7,238) of the homeless population was in the Dublin region on Census Night.

The next highest concentrations of people were in the South-West with 731, which is 7%, and the Mid-East with 631 at 6%.

Just over 60% (6,234) of the total homeless population was male, whereas 4,087 homeless people were female.
