John Perry confirms intention to contest General Election



Former Fine Gael TD John Perry has confirmed that he has put his name forward for the party’s General Election selection convention in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.

Perry, a native of Ballymote was first elected to the Dáil in 1997 before losing his seat in the 2016 General Election.

He then ran in the 2019 General Election as an Independent.

A former Minister of State, Perry joins sitting TD Frank Feighan and Thomas Walsh as confirmed candidates for the September 1st convention.

Speaking to Ocean FM, he says his experience sets him apart from the other candidates.
