People in North West reminded of healthcare options this Bank Holiday

People in the North West are being reminded of their healthcare options this August Bank Holiday weekend.

Health services are expecting a rise in the number of people presenting over the course of the weekend.

As the August bank holiday approaches, the HSE in the North West is encouraging the public to know what healthcare options are available should you or family need them.

People are being encouraged to contact their local GP out of hour’s service if they urgently need to see a GP outside their clinic hours – an appointment is essential.

Additional practice staff will be working over the long weekend to deal with an expected increase in demand.

Roscommon injury unit is an alternative to the Emergency Department at Sligo University Hospital, treating breaks, sprains, burns and wounds and is open from 8am to 8pm 365 days per year.

The unit can see, diagnose and treat a wide range of injuries for both adults and children over five years old and you don’t need an appointment or a GP referral.

Please do not visit a healthcare setting this includes hospitals, nursing homes and residential care facilities if you are feeling unwell.
