Man pleads guilty to murder of Sligo man in Australia



A man has pleaded guilty to murdering a Sligo man in Australia in February 2023.

Police were called to a home in New South Wales on the morning of February 9th where Damien Conlon had suffered a gunshot wound.

Mr. Conlon was treated by paramedics however, he died at the scene.

The father of his fiancée, Luke Simon appeared by video-link from Silverwater jail to Sydney Supreme Court, where he admitted fatally shooting Damien Conlon.

According to the Irish Mirror, a conviction was formally recorded for the accused as his next court date set for November 7, before the Sydney Supreme Court.

Mr. Simon is said to have nodded and waved to the court as his case was adjourned.

Damien Conlon previously worked in the hospitality industry in Sligo before emigrating to Australia.

He was formally declared an Australian citizen in June 2021 and he and his fiancée Linda Simon shared two children together, three-year-old Mason and two-year-old Elias.
