Date confirmed for FF Donegal selection convention

A date has been confirmed for Fianna Fails Donegal selection convention.

Six candidates in total have been nominated to contest the convention in Donegal.

The candidates nominated are Minister Charlie McConalogue, Senator Niall Blaney, Councillor Michael Naughton and Councillor Donal Mandy Kelly, Ben Harkin of Termon Ogra and former MEP and TD Pat the Cope Gallagher.

It’s now a matter for party members to decide who should be put forward to contest the next General Election which, its anticipated could be called sooner rather than later.

It’s been confirmed that the selection convention will take place on September 12th in Letterkenny.

The party has also yet to decide on a strategy for the election which will include a decision on the number of candidates to be put forward locally.

Traditionally two candidates are put forward in Donegal, one in the south west of the county and another in the North East.
