Ten people arrested for drug offences in Donegal



Ten people have been caught with controlled drugs at various locations across Donegal in recent days.

A number of arrests were made as a result.

Gardai from the Donegal Division carried out a number of checkpoints across the county over the weekend.

A detector dog along with the Revenue Customs Service also assisted in the operation.

As part of Operation Tara, 10 people were detected in possession of controlled drugs. One male was arrested and interviewed on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

He was interviewed and released pending analysis of the seized items and submission of a file to the D.P.P.

A second male was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after failing to stop for Gardaí. Cocaine and cannabis with a market value of €3150 was also seized during the operation.

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute those involved in drug trafficking networks, at all levels.

Under Operation Tara, individuals and groups involved in the drug trade will be the target of enforcement activity based on intelligence and latest crime trends.
