Sligo Rovers to host Athlone Town again in WFAI Cup semi-finals

Sligo Rovers have been drawn against Athlone Town at home in the semi-finals of the Women’s FAI Cup for the second year running.

The Bit O’Red made it into the semi-finals for the second year in a row, following a 3-1 win over DLR Waves in the quarter finals in Dublin at the weekend, while Athlone saw off Treaty United by a scoreline of 2-1.

The other semi final sees Shelbourne, who needed a last minute winner in extra time to see off Shamrock Rovers, host Cork City.

The draw was conducted by FAI President, Paul Cooke, and current Ireland international, Jamie Finn.

The ties will be played the week ending September 22nd.

Speaking afterwards, Rovers boss Tommy Hewitt said he was pleased to secure a home draw.
