Collooney Kicking Club’s Halle Conlon-Oates has won a bronze medal for Ireland the WAKO World Championships in Budapest.
Conlon-Oates, a world champion in Italy two years ago, was beaten in Thursday’s Kick Light semi-final by her Spanish opponent – but secures another podium finish at a major championships.
She had reached the last four after an impressive quarter-final victory against Italy on Wednesday.
Halle’s sister Lucy was unlucky to lose out 13-12 to Great Britain in her quarter-final, also on Wednesday.
There’s the prospect of more medal success for Collooney kickboxing club this week.
PJ Scanlon has secured a place in the final of his division.
He’s assured of at least a silver medal.
