Ireland duo finish 5th in cycling time-trial

Ireland para-cyclists Katie George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal finished fifth in Friday’s one-kilometre time-trial at the  velodrome in Paris.

Dunleavy, whose father John hails from Mountcharles in Donegal, had been ill in the days leading up to this race – and had only recently recovered from a shattered collarbone sustained in a World Cup race back in May.

The Ireland duo were still in the bronze medal position with just two tandem bikes to go – but both the Australian and GB bikes went quicker to push Ireland out of the medals.

Dunlevy and McCrystal still have their silver medal event from Tokyo three years ago – the 3000m individual pursuit – to come on Sunday.
