Almost 180 asylum seekers to be housed in Milligan Court



It’s been confirmed that almost 180 asylum seekers are due to be housed in Milligan Court in Sligo.

 

Major controversy arose last year after the owners of both Milligan Court and Benbulben Court stopped letting the accommodation to students.

 

Both properties had been traditionally catering to students and it resulted in around 500 young people scrambling for somewhere else to live.

 

Instead, it was announced that plans were afoot to use the accomodation to house refugees.

 

This move was initially prevented, following Government intervention.

 

Now one year on, it’s emerged that refugees are to arrive to Milligan Court in the coming days.
