A number of schools in the north west are among those that have been selected to introduce a new Leaving Cert subject.
Drama, Film and Theatre Studies and Climate Action and Sustainable Development are set to be introduced in the selected schools as part of what’s being described as “phase one”
St. Catherine’s Vocational School, Killybegs, Coláiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon and Mercy College in Sligo are among the 57 chosen to study Drama, Film and Theatre Studies.
Climate Action and Sustainable Development will be added to the curriculum for students attending both Summerhill College and Sligo Grammar School students.
Following the announcement, the Department of Education say the subjects allow for “a growing demand for change and international experience and perspectives.”
