Regular, high-visibility, Garda patrols are set to be implemented on the Sligo to Dublin rail line in the coming months.
Gardai say it’s part of a crime prevention initiative which affords them an opportunity to engage with the travelling public.
They also say it will allow them to prevent antisocial behaviour on trains and in the stations along the route.
Passengers are also asked to report any unusual activity and antisocial behaviour.
