Two North West hospitals remain among the most overcrowded hospitals in Ireland today.
According to the latest figures from the INMO Trolley Watch, 35 patients were without a bed in Sligo University Hospital this morning, while there were 30 without a bed in Letterkenny University Hospital, which ranked fourth and fifth highest respectively.
This follows a statement released by the HSE yesterday afternoon, where they addressed the long wait times at LUH, while also highlighting that two wards at the hospital were containing outbreaks of Covid-19.
The HSE said “we continue to request that people consider other options for non-emergency care such as Out of Hours GP and pharmacies before attending an ED. Please do not visit the hospital if you have any Respiratory symptoms or have had contact with someone who has COVID-19.”
Nationally, there were 476 admitted patients waiting for beds this morning. 338 patients were waiting in the emergency department, while 138 were in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
