Number of motorists arrested in Donegal

The warning comes as Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority will be out in force this week as part of National Road Safety week.

On Saturday, a driver was arrested at a Mandatory Intoxicant Testing checkpoint in Letterkenny after failing a roadside breath test. They will receive a fine and face a three-month disqualification.

A driver was arrested in the Killygordon area on Saturday after testing positive for cocaine, cannabis, and benzodiazepines.

Another driver was arrested in Letterkenny on suspicion of drink driving after being seen driving erratically.

Meanwhile, in Buncrana, the roads policing unit arrested five motorists over the course of the weekend on suspicion of drink / drug driving.

Gardaí are reminding motorists to slow down, wear a seatbelt & don’t ever drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
