As grass growth remains low in most of the country there is a large need for more feed.

Farmers are facing a shortage of 9 million tonnes of silage as some mills are delivering winter supplies now.

Farmers in the worst affected areas are expected to wait upwards of 2 weeks before they can receive grass and others having to use their first cut sillage for food.

Hannah Quinn-Mulligan with the Irish Farmers Journal says it's very serious.
