A new pilot scheme for hedgecutting is to be set up in Leitrim.
The new grant scheme will provide funding for farmers to ensure that hedges are cut.
A similar scheme was set up in county Clare in recent years.
It was approved at a meeting of Leitrim County Council yesterday.

Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon says hedgecutting has been an issue in the county for many years and he hopes the scheme will work:
