There are 29 people waiting on hospital beds in the north west today.

20 of the patients are at University Hospital Sligo while there are 9 at Letterkenny University Hospital, according to the INMO's Trolley Watch figures.

The HSE's own figures show hospital overcrowding has reduced today.

It's TrolleyGar report finds there are 421 patients on trolleys waiting for a bed this morning, compared to 537 yesterday.

The worst affected hospitals are Dublin's Mater and St. Vincent's, Galway University Hospital, Cork University Hospital and Waterford University Hospital.

Meanwhile, a mother has spoken of her family's frustration after her son's surgery was postponed eight times.

Seven year old Tommy Kinsella is waiting for a heart procedure.

It was due to take place at Crumlin Children's Hospital this week but was cancelled again.
