Latest figures show 19 patients are receiving treatment for Covid-19 in Letterkenny University Hospital and a further 9 in Sligo University Hospital.

436 people were in public hospitals last night, while 90 are in ICU; five of which are in Letterkenny University Hospital and 1 in Sligo University Hospital while there are no ICU beds available in either.

According to the The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation's Trolley Watch figures, 30 patients are waiting for a bed in Letterkenny and 16 in Sligo University Hospital.

It was confirmed yesterday by Salta Hospital group Chief Executive, Tony Canavan, that only a small amount of elective surgeries are going ahead in Sligo and Leterkenny University Hospitals due to the rise in cases.

However, the HSE's Chief Clinical Officer, Dr Colm Henry, says there are no immediate plans to cancel further health services despite a rise in COVID-19 cases.

They have been over 3,000 for the last three days and the Tanaiste says more than 4,000 cases can be expected in the coming days.

The five day moving average has increased by 47 percent in the space of a week.

Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin, Tomás Ryan, believes hospitalisations and ICU admissions will continue to rise in the coming weeks.
