Thirty seven Donegal cancer patients have so far received radiotherapy treatment in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

Cancer campaigners are welcoming this as a very positive move which have come about as a result of the cross-border radiotherapy initiative between Letterkenny and Altnagelvin.

It means that patients can get this therapy nearer to home instead of having to travel to Galway for it.

As of the 12th of June 37 referrals were made to Altnagelvin including 17 prostate cancer patients and 20 breast cancer referrals.
