Today marks the 47th anniversary of missing Donegal schoolgirl Mary Boyle.
The six-year-old vanished from her grandmother’s home in Ballyshannon on March 18th, 1977 – and there’s been no trace of her since then.
In 2018, detectives launched a renewed bid to solve the Republic’s longest-running missing person case.
Gardaí at the time appealed to the public for assistance with the case.
On the day she disappeared, Mary had been following her uncle who had gone to a neighbour’s house to return a ladder.
Half-way through the journey she told her uncle she was turning back and was never seen again.
