50 drivers across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal were arrested during December and early January for driving under the influence and drug driving.
The Christmas and New Year Road Safety Campaign commenced on 1st December 2022 and concluded on 3rd January 2023.

During this period, 32 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, while five were caught drug driving in Donegal.
Meanwhile, in Sligo-Leitrim, 13 motorists were arrested during the same period.

12 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while one was caught drug driving.
Nationally, 745 people were arrested for Driving Under the Influence, 136 of whom were arrested on suspicion of Drug Driving.
