779 patients were admitted to Sligo University Hospital without a bed in February.

According to the latest INMO Trolley watch figures, SUH was the fourth most overcrowded hospital in Ireland this month.

Nationally, 11,318 patients were without a bed over the past 28 days, which has made it the worst February for hospital overcrowding on record, and the second month in a row with record overcrowding.

The most overcrowded hospital was University Hospital Limerick (1,938), followed by Galway University Hospital (1,019) and Cork University Hospital (1,014).

INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha says this is the worst start of the year in relation to overcrowding since their records began in 2006.

They have labelled the current situation completely unacceptable and say the HSE has downplayed the issues in an extremely cynical manner.

So far in 2025, over 25,290 patients across the country have been waiting on trolleys for beds, including over 250 children.
