A new central library - must remain a priority

A Sligo County Councillor say a new central library for Sligo must remain a priority.

It's after an application to fund a new joint library between IT Sligo and Sligo County Central did not receive approval in the recent round of Urban Regeneration Development Funding.

Modifications are being made to the application and it's expected this will be resubmitted when the next round of funding opens.

Sinn Fein Cllr Chris MacManus says the council must remain fully committed to provide a modern library to replace the existing building which he says is not fit for purpose.
