An additional €3.6m has been made available for language assistance in Gaeltacht schools.
The announcement was made yesterday in Glencolmcille by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
This will increase the number of weeks the system is in place to 32 weeks in primary and post primary schools.
A revision to the Official Languages Act was expected to be announced but this has now been delayed until September or October.
