All eyes on London as Rory Gallagher’s guitar goes under the hammer

All eyes are on London today as Rory Gallagher's famous 1961 Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar is set to go up for auction.

It's among a number of items having belonged to the Ballyshannon rocker that will go under the hammer at Bonhams Auction House this afternoon.

The guitar could fetch up to one million pounds.

There have been ongoing calls on the Government to buy it so that it remains in Ireland.

It remains to be seen whether the State will step in and make a bid.
