The All Ireland Strategic Rail Review is being published today.
The long-awaited document will give the green light to a number of rail infrastructure projects around the country.
No new lines are expected for Sligo, with the much debated Collooney to Claremorris and Sligo to Galway lines unlikely to feature.
Some improvements will be made to the existing Sligo to Dublin Connolly line however, with more carriages set to be added to all services to allow more passengers to travel.
