There are almost five thousand holiday homes in the Ocean FM franchise area according to the most recent census.
South Donegal has the highest number of holiday homes.
Figures from the CSO show that there were 2,549 holiday homes in the south Donegal area, the fourth highest number in Donegal behind Glenties, Milford and Carndonagh.
This is followed by the Ballymote-Tubbercurry Municipal District, where there were 1,255 holiday homes in 2022.
Next is the Sligo - Drumcliffe Municipal District with 601 holiday homes there.
In the Manorhamilton Municipal District, there were 591.
While there are 177 holiday homes in the Sligo-Strandhill Municipal District.
Meanwhile the data also shows that Donegal also had the highest number of holiday homes as a percentage of total housing stock.
There were 12,326 in 2022.
This is followed by Sligo with 2,033 and 1,704 in Leitrim.
