American presidential candidate to be invited back to his Leitrim family homestead

Leitrim County Council is to extend an invitation to the US democratic candidate in the presidential election, Beto O'Rourke to visit his family homestead which can be traced back to Glencar.

The invitation will be offered to the US politician following a motion which was tabled at this Week's Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting by independent Councillor and local election candidate Felim Gurn.

Speaking to Ocean FM Mr Gurn explained that with Beto O'Rourke having family roots in north Leitrim, there was glorious opportunity to showcase the area to a worldwide tourism market.
