Appeal launched over abandoned dogs in County Leitrim

An appeal has been launched over two dogs feared abandoned in County Leitrim.

The two Spaniels were found in the Bornacoola area the night before Christmas Eve, having strayed to a house seeking refuge.

In a statement, Leitrim Animal Welfare say that the family who found them took them in and tried to find their owner, but to no avail.

The charity says that it appears the pair were abandoned and have been in their care since Friday.

One of the dogs has a deep wound on her head and eye infection that is currently being treated.

One of the dogs is microchipped, but unfortunately, the charity says that the chip isn’t registered, making it harder to track down their owner.

Leitrim Animal Welfare is reaching out to communities across Leitrim and further afield, appealing for information.

Please contact the charity at 085 864 5366.
