From this morning, an Armed Garda Support Unit has been stationed along the Cavan/Monaghen border.

At last weeks Cross Border Organised Crime Conference, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris confirmed the deployment.

A third third armed support unit has been deployed in the Cavan/Monaghen.

It comes after the assault and abduction of CEO of QIH Kevin Lunney and Brexit looming just over a month away.

Tomorrow marks two weeks since Mr. Lunney was abducted in Fermanagh before being assaulted and left on the road in Cavan.

Over the weekend Parish priest of Ballyconnell , Fr. Oliver O'Reilly described the torture of the Quinn Group executive as "a modern form of crucifixion." and says it will take time for his physical and mental wounds to heal.
