'Army snipers still needed' as local deer cull deemed not enough

It's thought that a record deer cull in the North West doesn't go far enough.

Sligo had 1723 wild deer culled in a 12 month period up to February 28th last year, up 54% from the previous year.

Just over 2,700 deer were culled in Donegal over the same period and a further 549 in Leitrim.

Independent Cllr Michael McClafferty has previously called for army snipers to be drafted into Donegal to deal with the problem.
