Asylum seekers face deportation despite having worked as much-needed carers on Covid frontline

A Sligo/Leitrim TD says some foreign workers, such as carers, fear they may have to leave the country if their asylum applications have been unsuccessful despite having worked on the frontline since the beginning the of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Kenny says many of these workers are highly regarded, and badly needed, by their employers, such as nursing and care homes.

He says this is a situation that needs to be resolved, especially for workers who are providing such a vital service at the present time.

He outlined to Ocean FM News what the problem is.
