14 swimming pools and leisure centres in the north west are to receive over €110,000.
The funding comes from Sport Ireland with the aim of providing some financial stability to the sector.
Sligo/Leitrim TD and Minster of State at the Department of Health, Frank Feighan, says it's more important than ever to stay fit and healthy and it's hoped this funding will contribute to people exercise routines when the centres can reopen.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Deputy Feighan says swimming pool operators have 'demonstrated their resilience' throughout the pandemic.
