Call for North residents working in south to get Pandemic Unemployment Payment

There are calls for people living in the north but who had been working across the border in the Republic to be given the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.

It's an issue that has arisen for people in areas along the border, such as around Garrison and Belleek, who are laid off from their jobs in the south.

Sinn Fein MLA Jemma Dolan has written to Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys, who represents the Cavan/Monaghan constituency, about the issue.

Dolan says former Sligo Councillor and now MEP Chris MacManus has received confirmation from the European Commission that there is no barrier to the Irish government making the payment to northern residents who had been working in the south.
