Calls for assessment of drainage situation in north Sligo cemetery

A Sligo councillor is calling for an assessment to be made of the drainage situation in a north Sligo cemetery.

It's in Ahamlish Cemetery, where inadequate drainage is causing graves to be flooded, resulting in distress to families of those burying loved ones.

Recently, a burial had to be delayed until pumps had removed water from a grave.

Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh says it's a totally unacceptable situation.

He raised the issue at this week's meeting of councillors from the Sligo/Drumcliffe Municipal District.
