Calls for Brexit funds to be spent in regions worst affected be departure

Sligo/Leitrim TD and former MEP Marian Harkin is calling for monies from the EU Brexit fund to be spent in regions worst affected by Britain's departure from the EU.

The Independent deputy has told the Dail that the intent of the EU Commision is that the fund should help regions, areas and local communities worst hit.

She said that, therefore, the bulk of the Brexit fund must be spent in the north west of Ireland and border areas.
